If there is something I like even more than cars are modern art and design (although I do something completely different), so it’s not hard to imagine how I envy disfigured face when I saw these images. Because you have to make something clear, one thing is the love you have for cars is quite [...]

More than ever before Formula 1 racing would benefit from a budget cap. Those who argue against such an idea are simply protecting vested interests, or at least they think they are, as they probably have more to gain from saving money, rather than trying to win cash. The current situation, in which the Formula [...]

For the second straight Nationwide race, Joey Logano went from being on the back bumper of the race leader in the closing laps to victory lane. It's just that the circumstances Friday night at Darlington were a bit different than they were at Talladega.

Six days after slingshotting around Kyle Busch right before the checkered flag, Logano restarted in third, directly behind race leader Elliott Sadler with five laps to go on Friday. As the green flag flew, Logano started pushing Sadler in an attempt to leave second-place car Denny Hamlin out to dry. However, Sadler didn't get going as well as Logano did, and the contact wobbled his car and into Hamlin on the outside line.

The contact turned Sadler into the wall and ended his night.

"First off I want to apologize to Elliott," a subdued Logano said in victory lane. "That was obviously not on purpose. We worked so well together at Talladega last week that we were helping each other again there it seemed like and I pushed him ahead on the restart before and got him out front. I was going to do the same thing and I guess he was just spinning his tires still and I was trying to push him ahead and car got squirrely and he starts right."

Sadler, who is racing for the Nationwide Series points championship again after finishing second last year to Ricky Stenhouse Jr., was out front late because of a two-tire pit stop. Hamlin, who finished second after losing a cylinder on the green-white-checker finish, dominated the race, leading by as much as six seconds before the caution flag flew with 19 laps to go.

Pagani

Up until this point, we?ve only been able to show you a couple of low-quality teasers of thePagani Zonda 760 RS, a car which defines what a supercar should be all about as it?s the most powerful car ever produced up until now. However, today we have something very, very special for you.

Not only have a few incredible pictures of the car been officially released, Pagani owner and Evo Magazine owner Harry Metcalfe was lucky enough to drive this one-off piece of automotive art on some incredible Italian country roads.

The video is yet another one of the Evo Diaries series and is undoubtedly the most exquisite one they have ever done. The test begins off with Harry following the 760 RS in one of just a couple Zonda prototypes, which has evolved since the very first 6.0-liter V-12 up until its current 7.3-liter spec very similar to the unit fitted to the Cinque.

Despite the incredible prototype being extremely unique by itself, the 760 RS is something else entirely. Harry confirms that it cost the Chilean owner 1.6 million pounds or the equivalent of $2.5 ?Benjamins.? Nope, your eyes are not tricking you, that is in fact twice the price of the Huayra, and Metcalfe points out that the 760 RS is a very similar car to thePorsche 911 GT3 RS, while the Huayra could be considered as an extreme911 Turbo.

Metcalfe goes on to confirm in the final seconds of the video that Lewis Hamilton did in fact purchase a 760 dubbed the ?760 LH? just like we reported, so hopefully some photos of that will be released in due course.

Evo's Harry Metcalfe drives the stunning Pagani Zonda 760 RS originally appeared ontopspeed.com on Saturday, 12 May 2012 06:00 EST.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. ? In all fairness to Jimmie Johnson's run of five straight championships, if you were to say "the streak" when talking about NASCAR, we all know what's going to pop into the majority of NASCAR fans minds: Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s winless drought.

The streak still lives, by the way. It's at 136 races and counting and has led to every Junior joke and one-liner imaginable. But through it all, Junior still maintains that he's the best. Yes, and that includes the five-time champion.

"No, he's a hell of a race car driver, but I feel like I'm the best," Junior said on Friday. "I think that's the way you have to feel. I feel that I'm smarter than everybody and I can drive better than everybody and I know a lot of people ain't going to agree with that, but I feel pretty strong about it."

Given his performance this year, he should. Junior is tied for second in the points standings, and as we said earlier this year,a win is very very close.

And honestly, it may be more noteworthy if Junior said that he wasn't the best. It's an essential attribute to have for a driver ? you can't win a championship, let alone a race, unless you feel you're capable of doing so. Junior does say that there is a hierarchy at Hendrick Motorsports, but that it's about tenure.

"There is a bit of a pecking order and it really comes down to what you've done lately," Junior said. "I think that Jimmie and Jeff [Gordon] will always carry a certain role in that company that I will probably never achieve just due to them being there that long and having that trust build up with Rick [Hendrick] and all the employees there and their accomplishments obviously. I've never felt that was a disadvantage to me. I felt like I have everything they have. I've had the same opportunity and I've never really felt like Jimmie's car was better than mine or his team was better than mine or somebody was getting something I wasn't getting. I've never really had that feeling because everything there is just so good."

Richard Petty Motorsports is about to find itself in the middle of a manufacturer love triangle.

RPM, currently with Ford, is working to extend its contract with the manufacturer and associated connection with Roush Fenway Racing, which ends at the end of the season. But Dodge, with whom Richard Petty has enjoyed a profitable relationship in the past, is currently without a dance partner of its own for the 2013 season and beyond, and could make a push for RPM.

"I would say you'd have to talk to Dodge," Petty said at a press conference. "I don't know [how interested they'd be in RPM]. Right now I think they're pretty confused because they got a plug pulled out of them and wasn't really expecting it. I would imagine they're going to have to sit down and have some prayer meetings to figure out really what they're going to do."

Dodge is without a major-team connection in the sport after this season thanks to Penske Racing's move to Ford in 2013. Finding a Chase-level team to align with could be rough. But, as Petty notes, the opportunity is there for an RPM-Dodge connection.

"Right now we've got our sponsors pretty well lined up for next year, but where we go with the cars and the engines and things like that, we don't really have a plan," he said, adding, "We've got a plan, but I don't know if anyone is going to go along with our plan or not."

In what must surely raise the blood pressure of everyone involved, these sorts of deals often don't get done until the last possible moment. So there is time for plenty of negotiation with both manufacturers ... and plenty of frustration and heartache, too.

"Anything can be done," Petty said. "All it takes is a little bit of time and a whole lot of money."

ARCA carnage never seems to cease at Talladega.

Mike Affarano's car flipped over six times and came to rest on its side -- with the engine almost completely dismounted from the car, on lap 83 of Friday's ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Affarano was thankfully treated and released from the infield care center after the crash.

ARCA is racing's "A" level equivalent if we were comparing stock car racing to Major League Baseball, and its restrictor plate races tend to be dicey affairs with a mix of inexperienced drivers and teams with a wide range of equipment and budgets. Friday's race also featured its own "Big One" multi-car crash in the tri-oval on lap 11.

Brandon McReynolds, son of former Sprint Cup crew chief and current Fox broadcaster Larry McReynolds, won the race with a last lap pass.

Before the2013 Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe burst onto the scene last month, its predecessor, the2012 C63 AMG Sedan - was a doozy in its own right.

How awesome was it? It gave tuners like HMS Tuning free reign to give it some serious performance and exterior modifications.

Starting with the latter, HMS Tuning gave the C63 AMG a few added goodies, including a redesigned carbon fiber front bumper with integrated LED lights, flared wheel arches, a new boot lid spoiler, and a rear diffuser. All these items, incidentally, are made out of carbon fiber. Rounding out the exterior mods are a new set of 19" Jade R HMS-Edition black rims.

Now, for the performance upgrade. With the C63 AMG already carrying one of the best 6.2-liter V8 engines in the world, theMercedes sports sedan is capable of belting out 457 horsepower. Now, add a three-stage supercharger kit and you’ve got a variety of increased outputs to choose from. Stage I develops 625 horsepower and 593 lb/ft of torque, Stage 2 produces 640 horsepower and 620 lb/ft of torque, and finally, Stage 3 peaks at 690 horsepower and 646 lb/ft of torque.

Not too bad for the 2012 Mercedes C63 AMG, right?

Talking about pricing, the top-end Stage 3 supercharger kit is priced at a steady ?24,419, which is around $31,700 based on current exchange rates.

Mercedes C63 AMG by HMS Tuning originally appeared ontopspeed.com on Friday, 11 May 2012 11:00 EST.
